WE HELP YOU CREATE A VIBRANT OUTDOOR COMMUNITY WHERE YOU LIVE.
Through our community partnership initiative, we support Maine communities seeking assistance in creating outdoor opportunities for their community. The goal of our Community Partnerships initiative is to build capacity within the community to develop programming, infrastructure, and resources that support effective and sustainable outdoor sport opportunities at the community level, while at the same time recruiting local youth & adults to Team OSI, building a stronger network for everyone.
Through an application process each year OSI selects up to three partnership communities to engage in a two-year process of development. Through these partnerships OSI is able to provide the following:
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Our education workshops target the needs of teachers, coaches, program leaders, volunteers, parents and others interested in running outdoor programs in their community. Topics include program planning, logistics, basic physiology, sport specific considerations, and teaching skills in a variety of outdoor sports.
To help launch new programming, OSI Coaches can deliver model community programs that provide a starting point and guide to local leadership, targeting a variety of age groups and outdoor sports.
Team OSI Head Coach
& Initiative Coordinator
OSI provides key resources to help make programming a reality, including award winning curriculum and a statewide equipment rental fleet capable of supporting community programming. To learn more click here.
From action planning to funding, program development to infrastructure, our staff works closely to share our experience, the experiences of our past partnerships, and best practices from the world of outdoor sport.
Partnership communities are responsible for providing local leadership through a team of key stakeholders, developing and taking ownership of an action plan with clear goals and objectives, and collecting and reporting on metrics that inform OSI's partnership work.
The application period for Community Partnerships is in February each year, and communities are selected and notified in April. To learn more about the partnership process, including eligibility, application process, action planning, view the Partnership Packet HERE.
